Calhoun City swept Riverside on their home field south of Greenville last Friday to advance to the second round of the playoffs against Ingomar.
The Falcons will host game one Friday at 6:30 p.m. Game two will be in ‘City at 7 p.m. Saturday. Game three, if necessary, would be back at Ingomar on Monday.
“This will be very competitive. They put us out last year and I will do a good job of reminding our kids about that,” Coach Josh Miller said. “I feel like we are peaking at the right time. I’m real pleased with our pitching and defense but we’re going to have to hit the ball better to beat a quality opponent like Ingomar.”
The Wildcats took game one from Riverside 8-1 with McGreger Lee earning the win. He struck out seven in just over six innings of work. Jo Gray closed out the game.
Clay Wade led the offense with three hits and an RBI. Preston Conlee had two hits. Skylar Nichols drove in two runs.
Gray struck out 10 in seven innings of work in the 12-4 game two victory.
Wade and Brandon Clanton each had two hits. Wade also drove in three runs. Walker Hardin and Cameron Yarbrough each drove in two.
