The Bruce Trojans will open the second round of the playoffs Friday at East Union after sweeping past Leland in the first round.
bruce leland63East Union, a two seed, swept Coahoma County in the first round.
“We’ll have to play our best games against this bunch,” Coach Turner Moore said. “They are solid in the field and their pitching has been their strength. We need to find ways to score early and take pressure off our pitching by playing well in the field. It’s going to be our greatest test to date.”

The Trojans defeated Leland 9-3 in the Delta last Friday and then completed the sweep with a 12-2 five-inning win Saturday night in Bruce.
Broc Peden earned the win Saturday striking out 11 Cubs in five innings. He allowed only two hits.
Cade Spratlin and Braiden Lee each had two hits for the Trojans.

Kirby Ross earned the win Friday in Leland. J.P. Stewart pitched in relief and Colby Roberts closed the game on the mound striking out the side in the seventh.
Spratlin and Trent Hall each had two hits. Hall drove in three runs.
“I’m excited for the opportunity we have,” Moore said of the upcoming East Union series. “Very proud of our fight and growth through this year.”
