Bruce used big plays on offense and defense to defeat Okolona 25-18 in the final game of the season for both teams last Friday night.
After falling behind 12-0, the Trojans answered with a 45-yard touchdown pass from Wesley Ross to Raquerius Spicer and then a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown by Ike Willis down the home sideline to tie the game at 12.
Ross passed to tight end Paul Tutor for a 40-yard score and a 19-12 lead early in the third quarter. The Trojans appeared to put the game away with a 9-yard touchdown run by Chad Glaspie capping a 90-yard drive after the Trojan defense thwarted an Okolona scoring opportunity in the red zone.
The Chieftains would add another score to pull within 25-18 and then got the ball for one final possession, but the Trojan defense again held for the victory.
The Trojans finished the season 4-7 overall and 1-4 in region play. This was the first time the Trojans failed to make the playoffs since the 2002 season.
