Calhoun City had big week on softball diamond

Calhoun City had the biggest week on the softball diamond, going 2-1 including a win over Bruce last week.
The Lady Wildcats opened their play with a 19-0 win over J.Z. George. Kenley Parker and Arianna Campbell had three RBIs apiece, and Conley Langford had two. Langford also combined with Aimee Buckley to pitch a perfect game in the run-rule victory. Following the win over J.Z., Calhoun City fell in a close contest to Eupora 4-2. Kenley Parker drove home a run at the plate, and Aimee Buckley gave up one earned run.

The hallmark win of the week for Calhoun City, however, came later in the week over Bruce by a final score of 12-8. Gabby Ruth and Conley Langford led the way at the plate with three and two RBIs respectively, and Langford and Aimee Buckley allowed three earned runs while giving up six hits in the contest. Charleigh Kakales started the game pitching for Bruce, striking out two.

Before facing Calhoun City, the Lady Trojans fell to East Webster 7-0, but picked up a win late in the week over Water Valley by a score of 9-0. Summer Corbitt had three RBIs, and Kakales had two at the plate.
Vardaman had the toughest week on the diamond in the county, dropping all three of its games played. The Lady Rams dropped a week-opening game to Hamilton by a final of 10-7. Amry Logan had three RBIs while Makynlie Jones and Kyleigh Scott had two apiece. Jones was also the pitcher of record.

Following the loss to Hamilton, Vardaman fell 15-5 to Hatley in five innings. KeKe Nash had two RBIs, and Amry Logan was the pitcher, striking out one. To finish the week, the Lady Rams dropped a close 6-4 game against East Webster. Makynlie Jones was responsible for all four RBIs and was also the pitcher of record, striking out five.
