Baseball season began February 13. Their season lasts about three months, consisting of 31 events with some subject to change.
BHS baseball coach Cody Brownlee is excited about this year’s season. Due to coronavirus, the 2020 season was canceled.
“I am excited to see my players grow into better ball players and better young men,” said Brownlee. His goal for this season is to make the playoffs and head to the state championship.
The coronavirus hasn’t canceled this year’s season, but it has affected the way the team practices.

“We are having to be more spread out during practices. Which is not very hard for baseball since we get to be outside most of the time. And after games now we do not shake hands with the other team. I wish it could all just go back to normal but I do not see that happening anytime soon,” he said.
Conner Starks, a BHS senior and baseball player, says his only goal for this season is to leave a major impact on the future BHS baseball team. This year’s team has quite a few younger players.
“Coming from last year with eight seniors to now only three is a big change for any baseball team. Even with a young team, we will do anything to come out on top,” said Starks.
He is most excited about the memories to be made this year and the friendships that will last forever.

He also commented on the pandemic’s effect on baseball. He said, “Wearing a mask is not the most comfortable thing and staying 6 ft. away from people isn’t the easiest thing but nothing is going to keep us from playing the game we love, not even the coronavirus.”
Jackson Snellings, a junior BHS baseball player, says his main goal is to work on his approach for their games this year.
“I really think your mentality determines how you play,”he said.

Snellings said he’s most excited about being a part of Conner, Jay, and Bryan’s final year as a Trojan.
“Hopefully we can make a run for our seniors,” said Snellings.
