Basketball season ended last night for Calhoun Academy as both the girls and boys were defeated in the opening round of the North Central A Tournament in Belzoni.
The Lady Cougars, 8-9, lost 71-33 to Benton. Haley Tedder led with eight points. Claire Carter and Casey Moss each scored seven. The boys, 6-12, also fell to Benton, 56-34, with Todd Harrell leading the way with eight points. Joseph Boudreaux and Forrest Shoemaker each scored seven.
Both teams had a difficult time at the district tournament in Macon, last week.
The Lady Cougars split their two games. They lost to Central in their opener 53-38. Hunter Robertson scored 11 and Regan Hubbard nine.
They bounced back to beat Columbus Christian in the consolation game 54-45. Robertson scored 20, Ashley Logan nine and Taylor Weeks eight.
The Cougars lost both of their games in Macon. Columbus topped them 71-21. Forrest Shoemaker scored seven and Todd Harrell six.
They fell to Kemper in the consolation game with Todd Harrell scoring 18 and Joseph Boudreaux 13.
