Calhoun Academy swept a pair of games from Strider Thursday night.
The Lady Cougars won 56-15 with Casey Moss and Regan Hubbard both scoring 15.
The boys won 37-33 with Todd Harrell scoring 14 and Joseph Boudreaux 10.
The Lady Cougars were defeated 52-32 by Hebron on Tuesday with Regan Hubbard scoring eight and Haley Tedder six. The boys were beaten 61-30 with Todd Harrell leading the way with 13. Forest Shoemaker added nine.
Last week, they opened the basketball season with a pair of losses at Humphreys.
The Lady Cougars were defeated 44-42. Regan Hubbard led CA with 15 points, followed by Hunter Robertson with 13 and Casey Moss 10.
Coach Tim Melton expects big things out of the very experienced Lady Cougars this season. The roster is made up of three seniors – Lindsey Hubbard, Taylor Steffens and Jesse Rodgers – four juniors and two sophomores.
“They’ve played together for a long time,” Melton said. “We have as good a shot as anyone to make a push for the district title.”
The boys have only one senior on the team, Joseph Boudreaux, four juniors and two sophomores.
They lost 49-34 at Humphreys with Boudreaux leading the way with 12 points. Todd Harrell added 10 and Forest Shoemaker seven.
“We don’t have a lot of high school game experience on the team,” Melton said. “But they’re a good scrappy group.”
