Calhoun Academy’s season ended last Friday with a 54-30 loss at Hebron Christian.

The Cougars finished the year with a 4-6 record and a fourth place finish in the division.
“We’ve been plagued by turnovers and injuries all year,” Cougar Coach Tim Melton said. “That’s been the story of our season.”
The Cougars had six turnovers in the loss at Hebron.

“We actually outgained them in offensive yards, but the turnovers killed our drives and then defensively we couldn’t stop the big play,” Melton said. “We moved the ball up and down the field but always would have a critical turnover late in a drive.”
Quarterback Scott Shankle accounted for three of the Cougars’ four touchdowns. He scored one on the ground and passed for two others – one to Dalton Poynor and the other to Joseph Boudreux. Shankle also scored on two 2-point conversions.

Boudreaux scored the other Cougar touchdown on the ground. Beau Walker added a 2-point conversion.
Walker and Danner Tedder led the defense in tackles.

The Cougars are losing three seniors off this year’s team – Boudreaux, Hunter Owens and William Willis.
They are scheduled to have 14 players returning for next year’s roster, including eight seniors.
