For a second time this season, standout shortstop and All-American hopeful Jay King of Northwest Mississippi Community College has been tabbed the MACJC and NJCAA Division II Baseball Player of the Week.
For games played March 24-30, King hit .421 (8-for-19) with a double, three home runs, 16 RBIs and eight runs scored in games against Arkansas Baptist, #5 East Mississippi and Copiah-Lincoln. King also walked twice, was plunked twice and had three sacrifice hits while slugging .947.
In 30 starts, the Bruce native is hitting .415 on the season (second on the team) with seven doubles, a triple, five home runs, 29 runs scored and 39 RBIs which rank second in NJCAA Division II.
King has drawn interest from numerous Division I programs, including the likes of Southern Mississippi, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Southeastern Louisiana.
