Bruce opened action on Friday, falling to Water Valley 9-0 and were no-hit by the Blue Devils’ starting pitcher. Bruce used three pitchers in the game: Austin Faddock, Hayden McCostlin and Parker Winter. Water Valley accumulated 12 hits in the game but were assisted by five Trojan errors.
Following the home loss to Water Valley, Bruce traveled to South Pontotoc and beat the Cougars in a high-scoring 14-11 affair. Three Trojans recording multiple RBIs at the plate: Austin Faddock, Logan Stewart and Hayden McCostlin. The Trojans also out-hit the Cougars 12-6. Tatum Turner was credited with the win on the mound for Bruce as he threw 1.2 innings, allowing one hit and two runs.
What the game against South Pontotoc had in offense, the Trojans’ next game lacked as Bruce fell to Pine Grove 2-1 in 15 innings. Both Bruce and Pine Grove failed to muster a run in 14-straight innings of play, but Bruce got on the board first thanks to a Pine Grove error in the 15th inning. Pine Grove, however, hit a walk-off, two-run single in the bottom of the inning with two outs to secure the win.
The Trojans are scheduled to host Hickory Flat on Saturday.Wildcats split four games

Calhoun City baseball played four games this week, picking up two wins and two losses.

Following the loss to Saltillo, the Wildcats hosted Independence for a doubleheader, winning the first game 10-0 and losing the second 1-0. In game one, City run-ruled Independence and held them to one hit. Gage Lucius was credited with the win on the mound and also went 2-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Hayden Goodson also had two RBIs, and Evan Conlee went 2-for-3 at the plate with one run and one RBI.
What offense the Wildcats had in game one, however, evaporated in game two as they failed to muster a run. Jackson Lee was credited with the loss on the mound for City, although the run scored by Independence in the third inning came off an error. Lee allowed six hits and struck out seven.
On Saturday, the Wildcats traveled to TCPS and knocked off the Eagles 5-3. Hayden Goodson earned the win for City on the mound, throwing 118 pitches over 6.2 innings. Goodson struck out nine Eagles, surrendered five hits and three runs, only one of which was earned. Goodson also went 2-for-4 at the plate, driving in a run and scoring one himself.
