Calhoun City teams complete first round playoff sweeps

Calhoun City’s Lady Wildcats easily swept O’Bannon in their first round playoff series.
Abby Vance pitched a no-hitter in the 21-0 game one win. She struck out eight and walked one. She also recorded three hits at the plate, including a home run, double and five RBIs.
Conley Langford pitched a no-hitter in the 19-0 game two win. She also hit a grand slam at the plate.
Total hits over the two games included Raven Arrington four; Arianna Campbell, Vance and Miyana Bailey three; Langford, Landyn Stoddard, and Perry Beth Liles two hits; Kylie Fleming and Rileigh England with a hit.
The Lady Wildcats hosted East Union Tuesday night in the first game of their second round series. They will travel to East Union Thursday for game two and three, if necessary.

Calhoun City made easy work of Leland in their first round playoff series sweeping the Cubs 25-1 and 15-5.
Hayden Goodson, Walker Hardin and McGreger Lee combined to pitch a one hitter in the 25-1 win at Leland on Friday. The game only lasted three innings and six of the nine outs recorded were by strikeout.
Preston Conlee and Davione Hull each had two hits. Jo Gray drove in five runs. Preston Conlee and Lee each drove in four and Clay Miller recorded three RBIs.
Conlee had two hits, including a triple and three RBIs in Saturday’s 15-5 win. Walker Hardin had three hits and also drove in three runs.
Gage Lucius pitched all five innings allowing six hits and three earned runs.
The Wildcats will face either Baldwyn or Lake in the second round beginning Friday. They were scheduled to play a deciding game three in their series yesterday. If Baldwyn wins, ‘City would host games one and three. If Lake wins, ‘City would play there Friday and be at home Saturday.
