Playoffs will look a lot different for the Vardaman Lady Rams this year as they compete in South 1A.
The Lady Rams will match up with Leake County in the opening round starting Friday in a best of three series. The winner would likely draw Salem, near Tylertown just east of McComb, in the second round.
In action over the past week, the Lady Rams scored two first inning runs and Makynlie Jones made it hold up as Vardaman defeated Calhoun City 2-1 last Friday night.
Jones allowed only four hits and one earned run in seven innings of work. She also drove in one of the two Vardaman runs.
Sarah Wooten, Maddie Terrell and Adrienne Myers each had a hit for VHS.
The Lady Rams lost a 12-2 decision to Mantachie Thursday night. Jones had two hits, including a double. Caroline Casey also had two hits. Nora Blake Parker hit a double.
Maddie Terrell, Anna Beth Lucius and Adrienne Myers each had a hit.
Anna Beth Lucius pitched six innings and Jones one.
The Lady Rams defeated Water Valley 14-9 last Tuesday. Maddie Terrell had four hits, including two doubles. Sarah Wooten had three hits, including a double.
Mary Grace Davis had two hits, including a home run. Makynlie Jones, Nora Blake Parker, and Anna Beth Lucius each had two hits. Megan Havens had a hit.
Abby Casey and Makynlie Jones both pitched.
The Lady Rams defeated Houlka 17-3 Monday night. Makynlie Jones had four hits. Sarah Wooten had two triples. Adrienne Myers and Maddie Terrell each hit two doubles. Nora Blake Parker hit a triple. Jones earned the win on the mound.
