Brandon Walker of Vardaman and Regan Hubbard of Calhoun City both earned high honors at ICC recently.
They were both among 64 Itawamba Community College student-athletes earn- ing Mississippi Association of Junior and Community Colleges (MACJC) Academic All-State.
The MACJC awards student-athletes for their hard work in the classroom with Academic and Distinguished honors. Academic honors are earned by a student-athlete having a GPA between 3.0 and 3.79 while Distinguished honors are awarded to those with a 3.8-4.0 GPA.
Walker, who graduated from Vardaman, plays for the ICC golf team. Hubbard, a Calhoun Academy graduate, plays softball for the Lady Indians.
Walker also earned honors from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
Much like the on field awards, the NJCAA awards the student-athletes with a first, second or third team honor. The junior college governing body determines which team the student-athlete is placed on based on grade point average (GPA).
Walker was a third team All-Academic honoree.
