lady cats tyraThey will host Coahoma County, who defeated East Union in overtime Monday, Friday at 7 p.m.
“I didn’t have to stress the importance of Friday night (in the post game locker room),” Calhoun City Coach Rob Fox said. “We’re 32 minutes away from where we want to be.”

The Lady Wildcats blew open a tight game early with a smothering defensive effort in the third period, outscoring Riverside 31-10 en route to the 69-52 win.
“I thought we came out a little flat and then got it together,” Fox said. “This time of year you’ve just got to want it more than the other team.”

Tyra Tucker led the Lady Wildcats with 26 points. Mykeria Holland added 15.
“When Tyra’s going, we’re going,” Fox said. “If she stays composed, we’re a pretty good team.”
The Lady Wildcats won the region title last week in Winona sweeping through Bruce and East Webster in the final. They trailed the Lady Wolverines by five with just over a minute to play in the game and went on a 7-0 run to earn the title.

“We’ve talked about handling adversity,” Fox said. “They handled it well.”
All eyes are no focused on Friday night and earning a trip to state. If they get the win, they would open play next Friday, March 4 at Jackson State University.
